DWI ADVOCACY IN THE MUNICIPAL
COURT: THE CHARGE,
THE CHALLENGE AND THE IMPORTANCE OF ALCOHOLISM AWARENESS
The DWI (Driving While Intoxicated)
charge is one of the most common and severe types of cases heard in
municipal court. A client may lose their privilege to drive in New
Jersey or pay substantial fines, monetary penalties or even higher car
insurance premiums and surcharges. They may even be sentenced to jail!
For 2011, NJICLE is pleased to offer a
view from municipal court judges and practitioners throughout the state
on the DWI charge, ways to challenge the charge, and common mistakes
made by practitioners in presenting a DWI case. The program will also
feature a special presentation on alcohol awareness, providing you with
strategies to identify if your client is an alcoholic, as well as what
steps are available to rehabilitate your client, and how rehabilitation
helps your client and your case.

exceptions is a critical component of trying motions to
suppress.
This breakfast seminar will provide you with
intensive instruction on the legal issues associated with every
judicially recognized exception to the warrant requirement under New

In addition, the lesson plan and materials will
